Recession 11 Part 1

The 11th post-World War II U.S. recession designated by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) occurred from March 2001 to November 2001.


This downturn is often referred to as the early 2000s recession or the dot-com bust recession, which was further deepened by the events of September 11, 2001.

Remember Y2K?

There it is below.

It happened...Basically the Nasdaq or New economy exponentially grew from February 8th, 1971 until March 10th, 2000 where it hit the Y2K singularity and imploded.

An almost perfect exponential growth curve from 1971 to 2000 or 29 years.

Back then the Nasdaq was called the New economy while the DOW was the old economy and it peaked too but did not collapse.

It traded sideways for over a year.

You can see below the long term resistance line.

What you are seeing is what is called a distribution top.

What is that?

That is where the general population are buying while the insiders sell off their soon to be worth less holdings into the hands of the buyers.

From the year 2000 until late 2001 the insiders were dumping massive amounts of stocks into the hands of the buyers.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average peaked on January 14, 2000, during the height of the dot-com bubble. On that day, the index reached an intraday high of 11,750.28

Then in September 2001 the DOW collapsed through long term resistance and imploded following 911.

When stocks and the Dow dropped during the market turbulence and the 2001 recession, the U.S. Treasury bond market generally rallied and bond prices rose.

When stock markets fall, investors often shift their money into safe-haven assets like government bonds. As demand for bonds goes up, bond prices rise and bond yields (interest rates) fall.

The Nasdaq collapsed on Osama Bin Laden's birthday 3/10/2000.

The DOW traded sideways then collapsed down into 9/11/2001 where Osama supposedly masterminded the attack.

I have been hearing a lot about 911 today. 

The pattern I saw 20 years ago

 A Kondratiev Winter is the final, contractionary phase of a 40 to 60-year long-term economic cycle first theorized by Russian economist Nikolai Kondratiev. It is typically characterized by deflation, high unemployment, widespread debt defaults, and economic depression, ending in a restructuring that paves the way for new technological eras.

The greatest deflationary period in the past 100 years occurred during the early years of the Great Depression (1929–1933).

1929 to 1933 was the hyper deflationary implosion.

On March 6, 1933, newly inaugurated President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation declaring a four-day national banking holiday. Effective at 1:00 a.m., the sweeping action ordered the immediate suspension of all banking transactions across the United States to stop devastating bank runs.

The Great Recession (2007–2009) is widely considered the most severe economic and financial meltdown in the United States and globally since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) hit bottom occurred on March 6, 2009, when the index briefly touched 6,469.95
 

Recessions are the beginnings of depressions.

There have been 13 beginning of depressions since the end of WW2

The United States has experienced continuous inflation since 1941.

Prior to the great depression the boom bust cycle in the USA was around 5 years of boom followed by 5 years of bust.

9 years of boom prior to 1929 roughly.

Basically the USA and world has been inflating for the past 85 years.

1933 to 1941 was winter.

1941 to 1971 was spring

1971 to 2001 was summer

2001 to 2031 is fall.

2020 was late fall.

The end of the line of the 1981 to 2020 Make America Great Again plan.
